Porsche 918 Spyder crashes in Germany
Mon, 02 Dec 2013Porsche is in hot water with German authorities following an accident involving a prototype version of the gasoline-electric hybrid-powered 918 Spyder on a public road last month, according to reports in the German media. The accident, which took place between the towns of Bietigheim-Bissingen and Ludwigsburg (close to Porsche's research-and-development center), saw the 875-hp 918 Spyder spin out of control and collide with a guard rail. Parts of the new $845,000 Porsche flagship are said to have broken loose in the collision before being collected by an oncoming car.
Eterniti Artemis racks up 5 sales at Beijing Motor Show
Mon, 14 May 2012Eterniti Artemis - first sales at Beijing Despite a price tag of £250k, Eterniti says they have taken five orders for the Artemis SUV at the Beijing Motor Show. Eterniti Motors finally revealed their Artemis SUV at the Bejing Motor Show (that’s the Cayenne based Super SUV formerly known as the Eterniti Hemera), and it came with a whopping price tag of £250k. But despite that (or maybe because of it) the cost of the stand at Beijing seems to have paid off for Eterniti with the first five sales for the Super SUV being taken – four for the standard car at £210k plus tax and one for a completely bespoke version.
Toyota files for 'Supra' trademark
Mon, 17 Feb 2014Adding more grist to the new-Toyota-sports-car mill, the automaker has filed with the USPTO for a “Supra” trademark covering “Automobiles and structural parts thereof.” On one hand, it's routine for companies to protect their dormant trademarks; Toyota previously filed to protect the "Supra" mark back in 2010; that protection expired on January 27th of this year. The new filing was made on Feburary 10th, in the midst of the post-Detroit, FT-1 enthusiast froth. We can't help but hold out hope that there's a bit more weight behind this application than simple maintenance of the status quo.
