This is a set of three of assembly manuals that was issued to builders of the Valkyrie and GT-15 Fiber Fab kit cars in the 1960’s and 1970’s. It is valuable to builders today who need to identify production car parts used in the construction or restoration of these kit cars. The Valkyrie was the V8 mid-engine powered version, similar to the Avenger (which was VW-based). The gear-box section shows how to convert the Corvair 4-speed Saginaw transaxle from rear-engine to mid-engine. This information is full of useful tips that may be valuable to home-builders of other models kit cars as well. Or consider it an entertaining, nostalgic read on the status of the kit car business in the 1970’s. The original manual is 54 pages and the Chassis Preparation manual is 37 pages, and the Instructions for Installing rollup, curved-glass side windows is 6 pages. Includes these topics: Construction Materials Acquiring Components Rear Transaxle Front Suspension Steering Engine/preparation Gear-box components Installation of drive-shaft Preparation of rear hanger plate Assembling final drive train Installation of front suspension Installation of steering assembly Installation of drivetrain assembly Hydraulic System Fuel System Cooling system Shifting Mechanism Exhaust system Mounting body to frame Electrical system Upholstery Body and paint

These renders of the sports sedan concept, which is 4,200mm long, 1,920mm wide, 1,320mm high sitting on a wheelbase of 2,900mm, show a traditional Alfa grille that feeds into the hood's prominent V-shaped character lines. Two leather hood straps in front of the windshield are a nod to the brand's older models.
End of the road for Mercury
Wed, 02 Jun 2010Mercury has stood for hot-rodding, performance, style and even feminine appeal during various points in its 72-year history. But ultimately, the failure to stand alone in the Ford Motor Co.'s family of brands spelled its demise. Mercury, a brand founded by company scion Edsel Ford, will be shuttered as Ford concentrates its efforts on the core Ford brand and luxury-level Lincolns.
