Whiplash claim legal costs rising
Mon, 04 Nov 2013GOVERNMENT attempts to reduce legal costs from whiplash injury claims seem to be failing. The average legal costs for small, whiplash-like third party injury (TPI) claims now stand at £2,500 per claimant, according to a report by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. The institute said this was a 15% increase since 2010 "when the Ministry of Justice introduced new measures which sought, in part, to contain legal costs".

The application allows users to review their rights on the spot and to record both video and audio when stopped by police. Once recorded, files can automatically be uploaded to external servers, where they are retained and examined by the ACLU for possible civil liberties violations.
Toyota to unlock secrets of black-box recorders
Thu, 25 Feb 2010Reacting to criticism that data from black-box crash recorders in its vehicles can be accessed only by the company, Toyota Motor Corp. is moving to ship hundreds of data-decoding machines to the United States and make them commercially available to help diagnose vehicle problems. The devices, known as event data recorders, are similar to the black boxes on airliners and record information such as vehicle and engine speed in the seconds before a crash.
