Audi Sport Quattro concept to wow Frankfurt Motor Show 2013
Wed, 04 Sep 2013Audi will reveal a stunning Sport Quattro concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 – the spiritual successor to the brilliant 1980s Audi Sport Quattro. With a 700hp V8 hybrid drivetrain capable of 189mph AND 113mpg, it really is a legend reborn for modern times. Audi is debuting the Sport Quattro concept in Frankfurt 30 years after the original Sport Quattro was shown at the very same show.
Mercedes SLK (2011): new roadster revealed
Thu, 13 Jan 2011This is the new Mercedes SLK, the third-generation version of Merc’s folding metal roof-equipped roadster. Rather than forcing the new Mercedes SLK to share the limelight with the facelifted C-class at the 2011 Detroit motor show, Merc has revealed the all-new SLK a few days after this year’s NAIAS started. Let’s start with the looks, and this latest SLK has adopted the latest Mercedes DNA from the CLS and SLS.
Hyundai Suicide ‘Advert’ causes a rumpus
Fri, 26 Apr 2013It’s not easy advertising your wares and finding the right balance between mainstream and innovative to capture attention, as Hyundai has found out to their cost with an ‘advert’ for the hydrogen powered ix35 FCEV which, rather distastefully, depicts a man trying to commit suicide by running a hose from the tailpipe to the cabin before realising he can’t achieve his aim as the FCEV’s only emissions are water. It’s a proper cock-up from Hyundai – usually so sure-footed with their PR – but, despite Hyundai US putting the blame at the door of Hyundai UK, there’s more to this suicide ‘advert’ than meets the eye. It seems the suicide video was put together by Innocean – a European Ad Agency owned by Hyundai’s Chairman Chung Mong-koo and his daughter, and responsible for much of Hyundai’s marketing output – and was a clumsy attempt to gauge reaction to the somewhat macabre take on the benefits of an FCEV.
