Project Car Hell, Air-Cooled Inferno Edition: oval-window Beetle or Type 34 Karmann Ghia?
Tue, 15 Apr 2014Here we are in the Automotive Lake of Fire again, and we feel compelled to follow up a couple of marginal-classic Fiat projects with a pair of indisputable classic Volkswagens. After Ferdinand Porsche appropriated the basic design for the original Beetle from Tatra designer Hans Ledwinka (but before Tatra successfully sued Volkswagen), Volkswagen turned one innovative rear-engined vehicle platform into quite a lineup of cars and trucks. Roewe 550 - the next MG?
Tue, 22 Apr 2008By Keith Adams Motor Shows 22 April 2008 12:53 The new Roewe 550 unveiled at Beijing this week is Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation’s promising new mid-range hatch, but could yet turn into the next MG saloon - and be built in Europe. Although it doesn’t look like a groundbreaking effort, the Roewe 550 is one of the Beijing motor show’s hottest debutants. Designed as SAIC's successor to the Rover 45, the car has been designed and engineered in Britain by ex-MG Rover engineers.
Fiat Panda: Now with fluffy-bunny Euro 5 engines
Thu, 21 Jul 2011Fiat Panda - now with cleaner Euro 5 engines The Fiat Panda has now gone on sale in the UK with a new range of Euro 5 compliant engines. Which it has to; Fiat can no longer sell cars that don’t comply with the new Euro 5 regulations. And although we have issues with legislating CO2 emissions, we positively support the ever-increasing restrictions on NOx and Particulate Matter. This is the stuff that actually matters, and Euro 5 toughens-up the limits.
