Lexus claims its new LS600h hybrid will return 29.7mpg – despite having 444bhp on tap. The company has announced new details of its flagship hybrid, which gets a European premiere at September's Paris motor show. Lexus claims that the petrol/electric hybrid drivetrain offers the performance of a V12, but with V6 fuel economy and emissions.

Saleen is best known for its red-hot Mustangs, but at New York it revealed an American supercar concept to rival the Europeans. Its S5S Raptor is around the same size as a Ferrari 430, and should be close to the same price, but boasts 175bhp more. It’s powered by a Saleen-built supercharged 6.0-litre V8, that will run on ethanol (like an increasing number of race cars).
Cadillac is recalling certain 2013 model year SRX crossovers for an issue that can cause a three to four second lag in acceleration due to a problem with the transmission control module. Such a lag may increase the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This recall concerns only the SRX models equipped with the 3.6-liter V6 engine, and the affected vehicles were manufactured between May 29, 2012 and June 26, 2013.
