VW Golf R Cabriolet confirmed
Fri, 25 May 2012VW Golf R Cabriolet The Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet has been accidentally confirmed with an image from China’s patent office. At last year’s Worthersee Tour Volkswagen brought along a pair of Golf Cabriolets – the VW Golf GTI Cabriolet and the VW Golf R Cabriolet – signalling some proper performance from a drop-top Golf. At the time we commented that the Golf R Cabriolet would definitely be made, but by the time Volkswagen revealed the production version of the Golf GTI Cabriolet at Geneva in March we were moved to ask “What about the Golf R Cabriolet?”.
Mini John Cooper Works WRC: the roll cage in detail
Wed, 06 Jul 2011Mini claims it’s created the safest WRC car ever – with a little help from Prodrive. And to prove the point, they’ve opened up the Mini Countryman WRC’s innards and spilled some of the secrets of its rollcage. The Countryman racer is stripped and fitted with a new type of rollcage designed by Prodrive. Its beams curve outwards and the Banbury engineers say it has been designed to withstand impacts much better than the straight crossbeams used in most WRC cars.
Nissan 370Z Roadster (2009): full official photos
Tue, 07 Apr 2009By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 07 April 2009 22:01 Nissan has released its full official photos of the new 370Z Roadster in New York ahead of its debut at the 2009 auto show. As expected, it's a straightforward decapitation of the thrill-seeking 370Z Coupe, with a good, old-fashioned canvas soft-top in keeping with the Zed's no-nonsense character. There's structural reinforcement in the A-pillars and side sills to counter the lack of roof, but Nissan says numerous body panels are made from aluminium to keep weight in check. The bonnet, door panels and bootlid are all crafted from the lightweight metal and there are individual, fixed roll bars behind each seat.Providing the fun is the 327bhp/270lb ft 3.7-litre V6 with variable valve lift and the choice of a seven-speed auto or six-speed manual transmission.
