Mon, 20 Jan 2014Motor Trend has taken a look inside the studio walls of CALTY to produce a documentary of the design development of a star of last week's Detroit auto show, the Toyota FT-1 concept. Toyota's Californian design studio has been responsible for some of the company's best recent work including the Lexus LF-LC concept. In this episode of Downshift, Motor Trend spoke to some of those behind the FT-1's design – Kevin Hunter, CALTY Research president, studio chief designer Alex Shen and William Chergosky, interior chief designer.
Lexus to unveil new concept at Detroit 2012
Tue, 20 Dec 2011Lexus has released a second teaser shot of its new concept car, set to be unveiled at next month’s Detroit auto show. This glimpse inside the Lexus sports car reveals an elegant cabin; we assume the photograph has been cropped to show just one front seat and it is in fact a two-seater. All will be revealed at the NAIAS in January 2012.
Bentley appoints new CEO, poached from Porsche
Mon, 29 Nov 2010Bentley has announced the appointment of Wolfgang Dürheimer as its new chairman and chief executive officer. He will also head up Bugatti, as did predecessor, Franz-Josef Paefgen. Dürheimer, who joins Bentley from Porsche where he headed the research and development team, will start his new role at Crewe on 1 February 2011.
