Definitions:
NOS: This stands for "New Old Stock". New Old Stock is not always originated from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). New Old Stock can be old or vintage parts that have been in storage for a period of time and never been used. Packaging typically shows wear but the parts are un-used and meet original design intent for appearance and function.
OEM: This stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer". OEM parts are either used or new. Example - A part produced by General Motors and the part is installed on their vehicle.
NOS OEM: This is a NOS part, typically discontinued, that has been in storage for a period of time and was produced by the same manufacturer of the part when the vehicle was originally being manufactured.
Re-manufactured: A part that has been refurbished to function as originally intended for design and reliability. OEM parts are typically re-manufactured and re-sold.
Hyundai has confirmed it will bring a 1.6 turbo version of the Veloster coupe to the UK in the second half of 2012, as first revealed by CAR. It should make an interesting alternative to the VW Golf GTI brigade. The new blown four-cylinder engine is called the Gamma 1.6 T-GDI by Hyundai - and it develops an unusually high specific output of 201bhp at 6000rpm and 196lb ft at just 1750rpm.
Ford will spend $550 million to retool an assembly plant in suburban Detroit to build the redesigned 2011 Ford Focus. Production is to start next year. As part of the overhaul, the plant, known as Michigan Assembly, also will build an electric-powered version of the new Focus.
The definitive love-it-or-loathe-it SUV is back for its third generation: the BMW X5. For the new model, BMW has chopped weight and fuel consumption, but turned up the luxury. It'll go on UK sale on 16 November 2013, with SE and M Sport versions available in rear- or four-wheel drive, and a choice of four diesels or one petrol engine.
