Embattled Wagoner forced to quit as GM boss

By Ben Pulman Motor Industry 30 March 2009 11:34 Rick Wagoner has been forced to step down as General Motors chairman and CEO by US President Barack Obama, as a condition of the beleaguered automaker continuing to receive state aid. Wagoner was meeting with US government officials on Friday when the request was made for him to ‘step aside’. Wagoner had been GM president and CEO since 2000, and chairman since 2003 – his resignation ends a 31-year career with a company.

Fiat Launches Racy New Range Of Abarth 500s

The new range has just been launched as part of a tie-in with the infamous Gumball 3000 supercar event, which visited Edinburgh and London recently as part of an international tour. THOUSANDS of British drivers risk breaking down or paying an expensive repair bill while on holiday in Europe. More than a quarter of UK drivers head to the continent without checking their car or having it serviced in preparation for a long journey. The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) found 33% of drivers make no effort to check their car, motorbike or motorhome before going on holiday.
