After a pitiful year of sales for Renault in the UK in 2012 (they plummeted 40% in figures out yesterday), the French are fighting back with a baby SUV designed to repeat the success of inhouse rival the Nissan Juke. It comes a day after local rival Peugeot announced its new 2008 crossover, another rival in this shrunken crossover/SUV contest. Smart E-Scooter electric concept (2010) first pictures

We’ve seen the sketches of the Smart E-Scooter concept, and now this is the real thing, which will be unveiled at the 2010 Paris motor show next week. Underneath the fully interchangeable plastic body panels there is a steel and aluminium frame, and there's lots of tech too. There’s heated handlebars, ABS, an airbag, and a Blind Spot Assist monitor to warn when a car/van/bus is about to take you out.

Lexus sales rising strongly in Europe – up 33 per cent in Western Europe

Lexus are reporting soaring sales in Europe so far in 2014, with sales up by 25.4 per cent over the same period in 2013 (and by 33 per cent in Western Europe) and the Lexus IS leading the way. Lexus IS sales were up to 6,923, followed by the Lexus RX SUV and the compact Lexus CT, with even the massively expensive Lexus LS chipping in 265 sales in the first six months of the year.
