offering at no reserve is a early bolt pattern case (1949 through 1964)but is correct for a 1964 Ford Galaxie 390 engine. The top loader was introduced in 1964 so with the narrow bolt pattern only would be a rare one year or partial year application. Previous transmissions were Borg Werner. This is a close ratio transmission. Turns over smooth and all gears shift smooth. The early pattern on the case will install on Ford and Mercury from 1949 through 1964. Would need to be sure your car has the proper spline count on the input and out put. Out put is 28 and input the common 10 spline. Gears all appear to be good and the synchros and corresponding dogs on the gears do not appear to be abnormally worn. Rear seal appears to be well used and the cover gasket and throw out bearing collar gaskets need to be replaced (a good indication was not overhauled). I always suggest putting a small parts kit and seals at the minimum just to be sure mainly due to age.
Manufacturer Part Number:top loader Surface Finish:used Core Charge:none Warranty:No

Offering at no reserve (as usual) is a coded HEHD top loader four speed from a 1964 Ford Galaxie 390 close ratio according to the tag. Looking inside does not appear to have had anything replaced. The gears all look good. The synchros look good also showing some typical wear on second and third along with the dogs on the gears but nothing abnormal for a used transmission. Rear seal is well used and the top cover gasket and input throwout collar need to be replaced which is an indication it has not been gone through. Turns over free and shifts free in all gears with no chipped gears or missing teeth. May be o.k. as is with seals and gaskets but I recommend installing a small parts kit and all new seals at the minimum. This has the early narrow bolt pattern for the bell housing. Thus will fit 1949 through 1964 Ford cars and most Mercurys. Sold AS IS as I have not driven it but seems to be a decent unit. Buyer be sure of application. Selling with intention of needing full restoration. Payment expected within 5 working days. Visit our new website win-trymotors.com for builder engines, project cars and parts on the web.

Saab: China’s Youngman submits new $2 billion offer

Mon, 20 Feb 2012

Youngman is committed to acquiring Saab The founder of China’s Youngman - Pang Qingnian – has revealed Youngman submitted a $2 billion offer to buy Saab from the administrators on 14th February. We’ve all seemingly written-off Saab as dead and buried; a once proud marque consigned to the scrap heap of history after the debacle of GM ownership and Victor Muller’s ill-fated battle to make Saab an in dependent marque. But there’s one man who hasn’t given up hope of securing a future for Saab, and that man is the Chinese billionaire founder of Youngman, the company which has already spent significant sums trying to acquire Saab, but has so far been thwarted by GM’s golden bullet.

Transmissions gone wild!

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

If you've been car shopping recently, or just paying attention to Autoweek car reviews, you've noticed that the six-speed automatic -- de rigueur as recently as a year ago -- suddenly has ratio envy. The new hotness? Eight- and nine-speed automatic transmissions.

-- While we were sharing our stories of awful cars we're glad we're rid of , Hooniverse contributors were also choosing their favorite Thanksgiving turkeys. The most appealing of the lot? The Lamborghini Urraco, a car that completely disregarded function in pursuit of form.
