Ford, 215 Hp 312 Ci Dearborn, Crusader, Century, Classic Boat Marine Engine on 2040-parts.com
Brainerd, Minnesota, United States
This is a left hand, counterclockwise or standard rotation engine (see transmission information below). It has two Carter YH-1 Barrel carburetors which were rebuilt several years ago. The engine has been converted to a spin-on type oil filter although the original canister filter is included. The engine was overhauled a few years before I bought the boat and ran strong, pushing a 21’ Century Coronado to nearly 40 MPH. The engine was removed from the boat three years ago. It was drained properly and turns over easily by hand. There is a small crack in the exhaust manifold elbow that has been professionally welded. The transmission is a Dearbo-Matic “C” Model with a 10 degree offset and a 1-1/4 to 1 reduction ratio. The reduction gear changes the rotation of the output shaft to the opposite direction (clockwise) of the engine. The result is the standard rotation engine propeller torque is reversed and the engine acts like a reverse rotation engine. The transmission has always been a problem and I had it rebuilt twice, only to have it fail a third time. The transmission should be considered for spare parts only. I had planned to replace the transmission with a Borg Warner 71C Velvet Drive transmission and scrounged the necessary parts to make the conversion only to discover that Century Boats prop shaft holes are offset to compensate for the propeller rotation. The boat was designed and built for the left hand prop rotation and the 71C conversion would make it a right hand rotation. That won’t work. Three years ago I repower the boat with a reverse rotation Chrysler Marine 330 HP, 440 Cu. In. engine and a Borg Warner 72C transmission. Life has been good since. I have also included an Operator’s Manual and a Crusader Marine Technical Manual with the engine. Buyer is responsible for shipping. The wooden engine stand is included and I will deliver to a local loading dock in the Brainerd, MN 56401 area. |

Lexus LS: Still loves a Champagne glass
Sun, 20 Mar 2011Lexus LS - Still loves a Champagne Glass Back when Lexus was born as the posh Toyota, Toyota’s advertising bods had to convince the American public that Lexus was more than just a big Toyota – with an even bigger price tag. The pitch was that this new Lexus LS would give you highway smooth – just like a big, lazy ‘Mercan V8 – and brilliant build quality, and all for less than a Mercedes S Class. Which was the target.

Thu, 22 Feb 2007By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 22 February 2007 10:30 Russian businessman Nikolai Smolenski is back in charge of the failed TVR business - and looks set to move production abroad. The deal was announced on Thursday evening, after the administrators PKF Partners struck a deal with Smolenski to buy TVR's assets for an undisclosed sum, thought to be in excess of £2m. The Russian businessman bought TVR in 2004 for around £15m, but sales stalled and the Blackpool factory crashed into administration at Christmas time.
