This listing is for a plug and play bolt on setup to swap a Ford 460 from carburetor to EFI (electronic fuel injection). The research for this system was done using a 1979 Ford F-350, and has proven an amazing addition. The EFI conversion in the pictured Monster truly made it come to life. It starts smooth and easy no matter the temperature. It runs great at all elevations and flawlessly in severe off road conditions. The single greatest benefit was the fact it doubled the gas mileage of the pictured truck. It also raised the torque, and the horsepower jumped dramatically, not to mention emissions became a breeze. The reason that this was all possible is due to over three years of research in learning the EEC-IV computer that powers this system. By re-mapping the ECU/wiring harness we are able to eliminate all of the unnecessary components such as EGR and all the vacuum sensors, and thus over 100ft of wiring. The other beautiful aspect of the conversion is the fact you won't even have to remove your engine to do the conversion. The engine block can stay in the truck, you can even run your original v-belt, or you can convert over to serpentine. If you are capable of changing head gaskets and running a fuel line, this install is a breeze.

On a standard size truck, you can expect about 12-15 mpg in town and 14-19mpg highway. The truck in the pictures weighs over 2500 lbs more than stock, not to mention its turning 44's. Through it all, the gas mileage doubled in this monster. It is averaging 10-13 mpg in town and 13-16 mpg on the highway. One recent trip from Denver to Yellow Stone, climbing some long hills straight into 45-60+ mile wind, it still got 8-10 mpg pulling loaded trailer. As a comparison; that same trip with a stock '78 regular cab long bed with a 351m and 30" tires averaged 6-7mpg with the same wind. It runs incredibly stronger, smoother and cleaner than any of the 60's, 70's, and 80's Ford trucks.

What it takes to convert your 460 to Fuel Injection:

  1. Simply remove the heads and intake from your truck and bolt on our new/rebuilt heads and intake.
  2. Install the distributor and ignition module that is included with the kit.
  3. Hook up a fuel pump from your existing feed line to the included EFI fuel line.
  4. Run a fuel return line to the tank (easiest via the fill up tube)
  5. Remove your old ignition module.
  6. From there you will install the wiring harness (there are only 5 wires to hook up to your truck)
  7. Run the included throttle cable (you will use your existing pedal, make one cut and one weld to the pedal rod)
  8. Run either the EFI manifolds included with the kit, or use our exhaust adapters so you can retain your original manifolds or long tube headers ( These are CNC plasma cut adapters and will cost an addition  $60 )
  9. Install an O2 sensor in the exhaust system.

What is included with the kit:
  • A complete wiring harness and ECU that runs as a stand-alone unit. (Each unit is tested and actually driven in the pictured vehicle)
  • A new/rebuilt set of heads with new springs, 3-angle valve job, seals, and locks.
  • A new cam and set of lifters from Crane Cams that will run within the parameters of the ECU and make more horse, torque, and also improve the gas mileage.
  • A professionally cleaned and painted intake and valve covers (the valve covers are aluminum and can be polished like the ones pictured)
  • Fully cleaned and tested fuel rails, injectors, and all the sensors.
  • A cleaned and tested distributor
  • Exhaust manifolds, and intake tubes (air cleaner tubes).
  • Fuel lines coming from manifold to frame rail.
  • A new fuel pump with warranty.
  • O2 sensor bung

The only other things you will need to buy
An air filter, a 4-wire O2 sensor, some fuel line, and tune up parts of your brand and choice (cap, rotor, plugs, wires, etc)

We can also provide a modified gas pedal for $40 extra

Mon, 28 Feb 2011

Let's say it's the hands. The difference between the North American International Auto Show in January at Detroit's Cobo Center, and Autorama in February at Cobo, is the hands. The auto show has well-manicured hands, soft hands, hands attached to high-powered executives and numerous public-relations people.
