The Grand Cherokee is a new model, not just a facelift although the underpinnings are carried over – albeit in spruced-up form.The 2011 model year Grand Cherokee evolves the chunky Jeep look and packs a whole load of new technology under the skin, according to Jeep. And the interior (one of the weakest points on Jeeps for years) has been improved, too.So what's new on the 2011 Grand Cherokee?Apart from those more chiselled lines that give the 4x4 quite a different character, Jeep promises better on-road dynamics thanks to the adoption of independent front and rear suspension systems and a much stiffer body structure.
Video: Jaguar's Julian Thomson on the importance of design values
Tue, 30 Oct 2012Jaguar's Head of Advanced Design, Julian Thomson, appeared at this month's PSFK Conference in London giving a talk on design values. Thomson's talk, ‘Concepting Dreams, Making Reality Happen', dealt with questions of creating a design story as well as how Jaguar uses the value of its heritage while keeping things original and new. Thomson – the man behind the 2010 C-X75 and the recently revealed F-Type – said, "You can't get a good design story if you don't look at your heritage, where you came from, where your values came from." He went on to discuss the ‘sad years of Jaguar', from around 1968 to 2004 where Jaguar was too timid to develop and "essentially made the same-looking car." He put this down to a reluctance on Jaguar's part to move too far away from its successful models and, quite interestingly, because "not only did we start doing market research, we started asking Americans what they wanted." Fisker delays Atlantic production start to 2014-2015
Tue, 16 Oct 2012Fisker Automotive will start production of the Atlantic in late 2014 or 2015, according to a Reuters report. That's two years later than the planned production start of the midsized gasoline-electric sedan. “The Atlantic is really the volume car that begins to build growth,” Fisker CEO Tony Posawatz said during a conference call with investors and analysts.
