Centered rear end pinion yoke between wheel flanges when center section is installed.  Axle lengths will be 29.1" passenger side and 25.7" driver side.
  • this rear end will measure 55" wide when big bearing 9" Ford Axles are installed with 2.5" brake spacing.
  • reconditioned center with new 3" x .188" wall DOM tubing.
  • tubes are sleeved for strength

White House pushes for Friday deal on fuel-economy regulations

The White House wants to announce as early as Friday that it has reached agreement with most automakers on a plan to raise corporate average fuel economy targets to 54.5 mpg by 2025, manufacturers' representatives said Wednesday. While no automakers have signed on to the Obama administration plan yet, most--including Ford, Toyota, General Motors and Chrysler--are generally supportive and intend to do so, the industry officials said. Each manufacturer is trying to iron out technical issues with the White House before endorsing the proposal.

Ford is finally putting the Econoline out to pasture. The full-size van has been has been available in one form or another since 1961. The E-series will be replaced by the European-designed Transit van, which will arrive with a global platform in 2013.
