GM Europe weeks from running out of cash

By Phil McNamara Motor Industry 03 March 2009 19:03 GM Europe will run out of cash ‘early in the second quarter’ of 2009, unless the divison secures $3.3bn in funding from European governments. Speaking today (Tuesday 3 March), GM chief operating officer Fritz Henderson revealed that insolvency loomed, due to the plunge in European car sales and GM’s liquidity crisis in North America. He ruled out a swift cash injection from private investors, saying that no talks had taken place and that lengthy negotiations and due diligence would take too long.

Mexico plant to build Honda Fit for U.S. market

Honda Motor Co. has confirmed it will build its Fit small car at its new plant in Mexico for export to the United States and other markets, as it expands its local production footprint to combat the Japanese yen's profit-eating strength. The plant, near Celaya, Guanajuato, will begin operation in 2014 with a capacity of 200,000 vehicles a year.

MG announces £99 per month MG3 finance packages

MG HAS announced that the new MG3 will be available from £99 per month, regardless of trim level chosen. Fully flexible PCP finance will allow buyers to choose to pay a deposit of their choice – even zero deposit – and spread the resulting costs out over three years. To secure the £99 per month payments, buyers of the entry-level £8,399 3Time model will have to place a £2,605 deposit.
