Kia Magentis (2011): the first styling sketch
Mon, 22 Feb 2010The new 2011 Kia Magentis design sketch By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 22 February 2010 11:51 This is our first look at the new 2011 Kia Magentis – a solitary design sketch showing what next year's new family car will look like. The new Magentis will be shown for the first time at the New York auto show on 2 April 2010 and Kia says it is longer, lower and wider than its predecessor. 'The new Magentis features a significantly longer wheelbase and will offer considerably more space for both people and luggage,' says the company. That, however, is the sum of the detail confirmed by Kia on its new family car. When can I buy the new Kia Magentis? Not many people will in the UK – they only sold 333 here last year. But should you want to, the new Magentis goes on sale in spring 2011 in Europe, six months after its US launch.
Ford-designed Santa’s sleigh
Wed, 17 Dec 2008By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 17 December 2008 14:30 Blue Oval designers at Dunton in Essex, UK, penned this trio of Ford-inspired sleighs to help fashion Santa’s just-in-time delivery system. It’s a job they’re familiar with, working on successive series of Transit vans in the past – and they’ve put their practical skills to good use on their Ford sleighs. These sledges are seen through the prism of Ford’s latest ‘kinetic design’ mantra.
Chinese Grand Prix (2013) RESULT
Sun, 14 Apr 2013Qualifying for the 2013 Chinese Grand Prix produced a fascinating grid, with three former world champions at the front on soft tyres, two more world champions lurking down the grid on mediums – hoping a different strategy would see them rise to the top – and Red Bull’s Mark Webber starting from the pit lane after running out of fuel in qualifying. And the three world champions who started at the front – Hamilton in the Mercedes, Raikkonen in the Lotus and Alonso in the Ferrari – did indeed make it to the podium, but not in the order they started. Alonso had a cracking start, overtaking Raikkonen for second place at the start and taking Hamilton for the lead by lap five, but stopped two laps later to change his softs for mediums and coming out behind Vettel and Button, who had started on mediums, and Hulkenberg.
