Lewis Hamilton taking pole position for the 2014 Australian Grand Prix It’s all change for 2014 in the world of F1, with new turbo V6 engines making funny noises and new nose cones looking as odd as the engines sound. Lewis Hamilton took a stunning pole in tricky, wet conditions on the last lap of final qualifying to edge out the Red Bull in to second spot.

New MINI to be unveiled on 18 November

The new third-generation MINI Hatch will be revealed at the British brand’s Oxford factory on the 18 November, ahead of a simultaneous showcase at the 2013 LA and Tokyo Motor Shows two days later. In a nice touch from the BMW-owned carmaker, the special unveiling event will be held 107 years to the day since creator of the original Mini, Sir Alec Issigonis, was born. A film crew has visited Volvo's Gothenberg design studios to meet two of its design team and find out what makes them tick. Exterior designer Peter Reuterberg and Interior designer Axel Ernstsson are filmed both in the classically Scandinavian studio and strolling in slow motion through a typically-Swedish snowy landscape. Ok, it may be a little cheesy, but it certainly rams home the company's nationality.
