New owner Tom McDowell had taken over the annual "Celebration of Italian Style" and moved the whole festival from the rather barren airport location to the sprawling Laguna Seca Golf Ranch just downhill from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Would anybody show up?

It's a U-turn from a strategy that saw Nissan desert mainstream models in favour of crossovers and niche cars such as the Qashqai and Note. In an interview at the signing of the Daimler-Renault-Nissan cooperation yesterday, the Japanese firm's global product chief told CAR a new Golf rival to replace the unloved Almera was underway.'There's a live, upstream project,' Andy Palmer confirmed.

Nissan sent out a video on Thursday, calling it part one in a series on the development on the DeltaWing. The videos will tell the behind-the-scenes story of the car’s journey to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Similar to the Juke-R series, which stretched to nearly 10 videos, this series will show the process of making the DeltaWing race ready.
