XFR Jag the fastest ever
Tue, 13 Jan 2009They took with them the usual holiday toys, but they remembered to pack a nice new Jaguar XFR, with a few mods necessary to run at Bonneville (roll cage, fire extinguishers, etc). They had a little fiddle with the ECU to derestrict it (and yield 600bhp) but, it is claimed, made no further mods apart from adding a spoiler at the back to stop the XFR taking off on the Salt Flats’ wide open spaces. But Bentley have already sold one to a generous UK buyer who stumped up £240k at a charity auction last night in aid of BBC Children in Need. The event – at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel and organised by Bentley Manchester – was hosted by the seemingly ubiquitous Gary Barlow, and had in attendance a plethora of celeb faces, including Lorraine Kelly, JLS, Chris Moyles and – as it’s Children in Need – Sir Tel of Wogan.
Russo and Steele auction reopens on Sunday
Sun, 24 Jan 2010The Russo and Steele collector-car auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., will reopen on Sunday morning, and the firm will hold auction sessions on Sunday and Monday. The auction was closed Friday and Saturday after high winds on Thursday night ripped two tents from their anchors. Some cars on the site were damaged by debris or rain.
