The Corolla will stick with a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine, but will add Toyota's Valvematic variable valve timing, which may add a few ponies. A four-speed automatic will be standard on base models, while a six-speed manual will also be offered, replacing the old five-speed .

RM Auctions completed its second and final day of sales in Phoenix, posting results totaling an estimated $30.6 million, a record-high amount for this event. The Canadian-based company also garnered the most talked about sale of the day, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL steel-bodied "Gullwing" that sold for $1.375 million.
