Public service announcement: Cars and shaving don't mix
Mon, 02 May 2011Consider this a cautionary tale: Take care of your personal grooming before you get behind the wheel. A Florida woman caused a two-vehicle wreck because she was shaving her bikini line rather than watching the road when she plowed into the back of a pickup truck at 45 mph. Concept Car of the Week: Mazda Ibuki (2003)
Fri, 21 Feb 2014With the Ibuki, Mazda designers synthesized the most successful of the first generation MX-5's iconic elements and evolved their forms to make them even more memorable and simple. To do so, they used a strong geometric theme throughout the car inside and out: LED headlamps; front air intake; tail lamps; rear view mirrors; release handles and interior details down to the pedals – every shape follow the same oval theme. Zooming out, the silhouette – as well as the top view – is also oval, making the Ibuki look more like a toy than a car, which is a real bonus for a small roadster.
Audi A3 Concept (2011): first pictures
Mon, 21 Feb 2011Audi has released first sketches of the Audi A3 concept, ahead of its debut at the 2011 Geneva motor show. Audi is previewing the upcoming A3 with this saloon concept. It's powered by the fan-favourite five-cylinder turbocharged engine in 408bhp specification. Quattro four-wheel-drive and a seven-speed S-tronic double-clutch transmission complete the powertrain. Sizewise, the new A3 saloon is 4440mm long, 1840mm wide and 1390mm high. That's longer than the current A3 Sportback (4.3m) but shorter than the current VW Jetta saloon (4.64m). The new concept is slightly wider and lower than the current A3.
