Seat Leon X-perience (2015): first photos of Seat’s Allroad
Mon, 23 Jun 2014By Jonny Edge First Official Pictures 23 June 2014 12:18 Seat has become the latest member of the Volkswagen family to unveil a stylised off-road version of a small estate car with the introduction of its new Leon X-Perience, coming to showrooms in 2015. Based on the existing Leon ST, the X-Perience is perhaps better thought of as a trim level more than an entirely new model. In essence, it’s Seat’s answer to the Audi Allroad.
Jaguar D-Type 60th Anniversary race at Goodwood Revival
Tue, 22 Jul 2014Up to 30 Jaguar D-Types will race at the 2014 Goodwood Revival The Jaguar E-Type os perhaps the most loved classic Jaguar, but the D-Type is the most iconic. This year is the 60th anniversary of the D-Type, so the Goodwood Revival – that wonderful world of all things classic car – will be celebrating the D-Type’s anniversary this September with a race where up to 30 D-Types are expected to compete. D-Types from around the world will congregate in Sussex for the Lavant Cup on the Saturday of the Revival, with plenty of regular D-Types, the later long-nose variant and even the experimental E2A one-off prototype that acted as a bridge between the D-Type and E-Type taking part.
Concept Car of the Week: Alfa Romeo BAT 7
Fri, 31 Aug 2012This week sees the Concept of the Week title go to Alfa Romeo and Bertone for their collaboration on the Alfa Romeo BAT 7, the second addition to the BAT series that began in 1953 and finished in 1955. First seen at the 1954 Turin motor show, this wildly futuristic ‘dream' car came about after Alfa Romeo contacted Giuseppe "Nuccio" Bertone of the Bertone carrozeria to commission three concepts with the lowest possible drag coefficient. The cars were named BAT for "Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica." Built upon the Alfa Romeo 1900 chassis, the BAT cars featured large rear bumpers and curved fins, and the concepts achieved a drag coefficient of just 0.19 - an impressive result.
