New 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe revealed in New York

Thu, 05 Apr 2012

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe - revealed at the New York Auto Show The new Hyundai Santa Fe – a 2013 model by the time it arrives in the UK – has been revealed at the New York Motor Show. Hyundai revealed the new Santa Fe a few weeks ago, ahead of its debut this week in New York. But now the new Santa Fe has been uncovered – admittedly in US spec – we can see it’s a decent move on from the current model.

One Lap of the Web: We missed April Fools'

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

-- Yesterday was April Fools' Day, a holiday known in some cultures as "April 1st." We chose to ignore the staid, unamusing fake press releases touting everything from Ford C-Max charcoal grilles to Audi sushi to BMW's annual efforts. ("The Ultimate Sleeping Machine" is what Web commenters will inevitably post in an effort to deride the upcoming 2-series.) But Petrolicious did a tasteful video of a certain moneyed purist's most prized vehicle, a car with all the panache, style, and passione that only its beautiful curves could convey. The folks at Petrolicious begged for a ride in this dangerously exciting speed machine, and by Jove, they got it.

Porsche Boxster E (2011): prototype Boxster EV

Thu, 24 Feb 2011

Porsche recently rolled out the first of three Boxster E electric vehicles, to take part in the 'Electromobility Region Stuttgart' local government initiative in Germany. The Boxster E is powered by two electric motors, capable of a peak power output of 180kW. Energy is stored in a 29kWh battery pack.  Not with the Boxster E. Three electric Boxsters are being built as part of a programme sponsored by the Baden-Wurttemberg state government (Porsche's home state in Germany) and WRS, the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation.  Porsche's hometown of Stuttgart is one of eight model regions participating in a federal pilot programme sponsored by the Minitsry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs to develop EVs and their supporting infrastructure.  The three Boxster E prototypes will take part in the programme, acting as mobile laboratories for testing EV usage and planning for EVs in urban infrastructure.  CAR's view? We reckon this electric Boxster E is much cooler than your usual EV council van.
