2012 CDN – Opel/Vauxhall Interactive Competition shortlist announced

With a hugely impressive 263 entries in total, the judges of the 2012 Car Design News – Opel/Vauxhall Interactive Competition had an unenviable task ahead of them when they gathered at the firm's head quarters in Russelsheim, Germany on Monday 21 May. Their challenge was to shortlist a number of students to progress to the next stage of the competition. The winner will be announced at the 2012 Paris motorshow.

Vauxhall to launch sub-£7k city car

Vauxhall is believed to be working on a budget city car to rival the Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1 trio unveiled earlier this month at Geneva. According to Auto Express, the new small hatchback will be based on the Chevrolet Spark platform and will start at less than £7,000 – undercutting the firm’s current Adam model by over £4,000. GM transplants Chevrolet Volt technology into the Cadillac ELR hybrid

One of the headliners of the 2009 Detroit auto show, the Cadillac Converj concept, will become production reality. Cadillac confirmed some details on Wednesday afternoon and said that the coupe will be called the ELR. It will use a T-shaped lithium-ion battery pack, and a generator kicks on to extend range, similar to the Chevrolet Volt.
