Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R concept (2013) first picture of 400bhp Yaris
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Here’s the first image of Toyota’s new hot hatch concept: a Yaris Hybrid boasting a faintly ridiculous 400bhp power output. You won’t be surprised to learn the Yaris Hybrid-R isn’t intended for series production: it’s just a party piece to celebrate 5.5m worldwide Toyota hybrid sales since 1997, and point to future Toyota hybrids that the company says will offer faster performance and a grin-inducing drive. What powers the Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R concept?
Lime Rock on track for Labor Day vintage festival
Tue, 21 Aug 2012Connecticut’s Lime Rock Park doesn’t claim to have the biggest combination Concours d’Elegance and historic racing weekend in the United States, but it does have something that the recently concluded Pebble Beach and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion can’t match: All the action takes place in the same venue. McLaren P1 gets 903bhp
Wed, 20 Feb 2013McLaren has revealed that their new supercar – the McLaren P1 – will deliver 903bhp and have emissions below 200g/km. The McLaren P1 will get 727bhp from its 3.8 litre V8 with an additional 176bhp coming from an electric motor for a combined power delivery of 903bhp, with the V8 contributing 531lb/ft of torque and the electric motor an instant 192lb/ft for a combined torque of 664lb/ft at 4000rpm. The boost from the electric motor is instantly available at the flick of a button on the steering wheel – McLaren call it Instant Power Assist System (IPAS) – which instantly throws more additional power to aid the McLaren’s V8 than a pair of Fiestas can manage.
