Ford to make three-cylinder EcoBoost engine, eight-speed transmission
Thu, 02 Jun 2011UPDATED: Ford is taking a look at the powertrain of its future, and in a nutshell, it's going to be small--at least under the hood. That's because the Blue Oval is preparing a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost engine, claimed to be the smallest engine the company has ever built. Ford says this baby EcoBoost will offer output comparable to a normally aspirated 1.6-liter, four-cylinder powerplant.
Nissan Juke-R – first picture
Tue, 25 Oct 2011Nissan Juke-R - the first official picture from Nissan With all things in the car world seemingly focused on fluffy bunnies and green halos, it’s great to see Nissan pushing the envelope at the other end with the Nissan Juke-R, a bonkers version of Nissan’s compact SUV with the heart of Godzilla – the Nissan GT-R. We first reported the Juke-R – which we dubbed ‘Super Juke’ - at the end of last month when we didn’t know whether the Juke-R would be a one-off or a production model. But within weeks Nissan had come out and confessed our Juke-R story was real and that they really were working on a monster Juke with the heart of a Nissan GT-R.
New Hyundai i20 Blue – just 98g/km CO2
Tue, 16 Aug 2011Hyundai i20 Blue - just 98g/km CO2 With a keen eye for where the market moves, Hyundai has done much right of late and very little wrong. And another example of something right is the new Hyundai i20 Blue, a perfect example of economical transport for beleaguered London car owners. The i20 Blue is Hyundai’s second offering in the sub 100g/km market – the i10 Blue got here first - but it’s unlikely to be the last, unless politicians decide to find something more sensible to tax than CO2 emissions.
