Wed, 25 Nov 2009Work is well underway on Britain’s latest land speed record attempt – the new Bloodhound SuperSonic Car (SSC) which aims to reach 1000mph plus. CAR reported on the preparation of the project in October 2008; one year later a mock-up is ready and the car is due to be built in Bristol’s docklands. The Bloodhound SSC houses one EJ200 Raf Euofighter Typhoon engine sitting above a hybrid rocket.
Nissan to open new studio in Beijing
Mon, 15 Mar 2010After last week's announcement of leadership changes at Nissan's North American and European design centers, Nissan Investment Co., Ltd (NCIC), a Nissan subsidiary in China, today revealed plans to expand its global design resources with the establishment of a new design studio in Beijing. "With the addition of 20 designers, Nissan's new studio will enhance our design capabilities, as well as our product competitiveness in China and Asia where the automotive industry continues to see robust growth," said Shiro Nakamura, chief creative officer and senior vice president of design and brand. "Locating the studio where our customers live and work allows us to best respond to their needs and design vehicles that exceed their expectations." Scheduled to open early in 2011, the studio in the Chao Yang district of Beijing will be the first design facility in China established by a Japanese automaker.
Toyota Camatte concept
Wed, 13 Jun 2012Toyota is to display a family-oriented concept vehicle at the 2012 Tokyo Toy Show in order to promote cars to a new generation of potential drivers. The Camatte project is based around a customizable body with interchangeable body panels hung from a simple body structure and components that allows people to reengage with the inner workings of the motor car. It will be displayed in two configurations – Camatte Sora – the turquoise car – Camatte Daichi – the military-looking beige machine.
