Bentley Bio-Fuel beckons
Thu, 18 Dec 2008Bentley finds itself in this ludicrous position. Of course, the current credit problems play a big part in Bentley’s problems, either because buyers need finance to buy their cars or, more likely, the demonising of the sort of cars Bentley makes by the eco-mentalists makes them an uncomfortable buy. So Bentley has come up with a strategy to combat the ‘Planet Killing’ perception many have of its products – Bio-Fuels.
Skoda Superb (2008): first official pictures
Wed, 09 Jan 2008By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 09 January 2008 10:58 Skoda’s biggest car – the Superb – will be replaced in autumn 2008. The new Superb is unveiled today ahead of its show debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March – and it’s received a welcome dose of style over today’s taxi-special that majors on a vast, echoing interior over any recognisable form of chic. The new Superb is even bigger than the current model; this one is 4838mm long and 1783mm wide, but it’s slightly lower than before for a sleeker, lower look.
Lotus's new 2010 Elise dips below 150g/km of CO2
Fri, 09 Apr 2010By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 09 April 2010 07:53 The new facelifted 2011 model year Lotus Elise has cut its CO2 output by nearly a fifth to a saintly 149g/km.It's a 16% improvement over the outgoing Lotus Elise S and Hethel claims 'the Elise has the lowest CO2 for its performance level for any gasoline sports car in the world.' Lotus is getting combative with the new Elise, pointing out that the Elise weighs just 876kg – while the Porsche Boxster sends the scales spinning to 1334kg.So how come the new Lotus Elise is so clean? The aerodynamics are 4% smoother, according to Lotus, while a smaller Toyota 1.6-litre VVT-i engine is downsized by 200cc compared with the outgoing 1.8, yet produces the same power. The new 2011 model year (but on sale now in 2010) shows the benefits of lightweight: it'll hit 60mph in 6.0sec.
