Camaro plant gets more work; recall issued

The strong early demand for the Chevrolet Camaro has General Motors looking to crank more units out of the Oshawa, Ontario, assembly plant. The Oshawa plant was exempt from GM's recent announcement of shutdowns of as long as nine weeks for several of its plants--primarily those that build pickups and SUVs. Oshawa will increase Camaro output by adding overtime and an extra week to the plant's production schedule.

Dr Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP’s secretary general said: ‘The technology andknow-how is out there for car makers to deliver vehicles with better pedestrianprotection. Honda and Toyota are giving us a glimpse of the cars of the future thatconsider the natural and social environment in its entirety.’ A Toyota official said hybrids posed new problems for its engineers.

Tesla Motors Tesla has made a real splash in the electric-car scene, so it should come as no surprise that its success is generating renewed interest in the fledgling start-up. New media reports in the US suggest that one of America's biggest car makers, General Motors, is considering buying Tesla in 2014. Veteran auto industry analyst Yra Harris, of Praxis Trading, told CNBC that GM may make a bid for Elon Musk's electric vehicle (EV) specialist in the coming months.
