2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 spied

Mon, 23 Sep 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is heading to dealerships now, which means it's a perfect time to start salivating over the prospect of an even more extreme take on an American classic: The 2015 Corvette Z06. These spy photos give us a hint at what to expect when Chevy gets around to announcing the car. From the look of it, the next Z06, which some sources suggest may be called the Z07, will be even meaner looking than the base Stingray.

Toyota Hydrogen Fuel Cell breakthrough to be announced at Frankfurt Motor Show

Mon, 02 Sep 2013

Toyota Hydrogen Fuel Cell breakthrough to be announced at Frankfurt Motor Show Regardless of whether you think the electric car is potentially a planet saviour or not, the idea of powering cars with hydrogen is a powerful one; the holy grail of automotive powertrains. Technically, ICE cars can be built to run using hydrogen (and a retro-fit allowing that to be achieved economically would be a huge breakthrough) but car makers are heading down the road of electric cars being powered by a hydrogen fuel cell at the moment. In Toyota’s case, that means a setup similar to their hybrid cars, with a hydrogen fuel cell replacing the petrol engine.

Williams F1 sells Williams Hybrid Power to GKN for £8 million

Mon, 07 Apr 2014

GKN have bought williams Hybrid Power in an £8 deal Back in 2010 we reported on a flywheel developed by Williams F1 that recoups energy from braking, and was fitted to a Porsche 911 GT3 to give an extra boost of power. Williams F1 developed the Flywheel technology with a start-up company, which it bought out for £1.5 million in 2010, and now that company – which became Williams Hybrid Power – has been sold to GKN in a deal worth £8 million – and a share of sales revenue going forward – and is being renamed GKN Hybrid Power. The plan is to use the flywheel technology to reduce fuel consumption of transport that is constantly stopping and starting – it’s currently being used on a bus operating in London – and  Williams expect it could cut fuel use by up to 30 per cent.
