Project Car Hell, Air-Cooled Inferno Edition: oval-window Beetle or Type 34 Karmann Ghia?
Tue, 15 Apr 2014Here we are in the Automotive Lake of Fire again, and we feel compelled to follow up a couple of marginal-classic Fiat projects with a pair of indisputable classic Volkswagens. After Ferdinand Porsche appropriated the basic design for the original Beetle from Tatra designer Hans Ledwinka (but before Tatra successfully sued Volkswagen), Volkswagen turned one innovative rear-engined vehicle platform into quite a lineup of cars and trucks. Next generation MINI Countryman to arrive in 2016
Fri, 31 Jan 2014The next generation MINI Countryman to arrive in 2016 (current model pictured) We’ve recently had the arrival of the all new MINI, and the next year or so will see the roll-out of a succession of takes on the new MINI. But that process of building a MINI for every possible niche won’t complete until the MINI Countryman (and its coupe sibling, the MINI Paceman) are replaced. That now looks likely to happen in 2016 as, according to Automotive News, BMW is to end production of the MINI Countryman and Paceman at Magna Steyr in Austria in 2016 and move production of the Countryman and Paceman to Oxford and the new MINI Plant in the Netherlands.
Mercedes E-Class Coupe – It’s official
Tue, 17 Feb 2009The new Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupe. So, goodbye CLK and hello E-Class Coupe (and very soon it will be goodbye Mercedes CL and hello, Mercedes S-Class Coupe as well). The E-Class Coupe will officially launch at Geneva next month, and as you would expect, it is a subtle and understated car (until we see the E63AMG Coupe!).
