New car sales up by 3% on 2013

ANOTHER RISE in new car sales in February has meant purchases have increased every month for two years. A total of 68,736 vehicles were registered last month - a 3% rise on the total for February 2013, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said. Sales for the first two months of this year have totalled 223,298 - a 6.1% rise on the total for the first two months of 2013 SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said the two years of continuous growth was "a real endorsement of consumer confidence and the attractiveness of the new car market".

Car Design Awards China winners head to Coventry University

Two Car Design China Award 2012 winners won the fantastic opportunity to spend two weeks in Coventry's Automotive Design department. We headed to Coventry to find out how Cao Chengang, a Tongji University graduate, and Gao Zhigiang, currently studying at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, are finding their time in the UK. Rushed urban speed limit reductions criticised

ANY RUSH towards blanket 20mph zones on urban roads needs to be slowed down, according to a survey of nearly 25,000 motorists. Almost 70% of drivers think people should be consulted before 20mph limits are imposed on their street, the AA/Populus survey showed. More than half (55%) of the 24,351 AA members in the survey said drivers' views should be sought if 20mph zones are introduced in local areas through which they travel.
