Designed to operate over a wide range of frequencies utilizing a broadband transducer, the new DFF1-UHD TruEcho CHIRP-enabled network sounder for NavNet TZtouch and NavNet 3D delivers significant advancements in signal clarity and target definition. The clear presentation of the DFF1-UHD marks individual game fish and bait fish, even when tightly schooled together or very near the sea floor.

Benefits of CHIRP sounders:

Standard, non-CHIRP Fish Finders operate at one or two individual frequencies and are generally capable of detecting targets and displaying them only within those narrow frequency bands. CHIRP Fish Finders transmit pulses across a wide range of frequencies, allowing Furuno’s superior digital signal processing (DSP) to display fish and structure targets with unparalleled clarity, accuracy and resolution.

Typical Non-CHIRP Fish Finders operate with a maximum duty cycle of 1% ‐ meaning they transmit a voltage to the transducer no more than 1% of the time. Consequently the transmit pulse can be high power but very short duration, limiting the total energy that is transmitted into the water column.

The DFF1-UHD uses a precise sweep pattern across 90 frequencies (50 kHz +/- 20 kHz, 200 kHz +/- 25 kHz) within a long-duration transmission. The equivalent sound energy transmitted into the water is 10 to 1,000 times greater than a conventional Fish Finder, resulting in more energy on target. The results are up to 5x greater resolution and depth capability than comparably powered, standard Fish Finders due to the advanced signal processing of the return echo.

Philip Hammond to announce end of M4 Bus Lane

Fri, 01 Oct 2010

Philip Hammond is to announce the end of the M4 Bus Lane Philip Hammond was quick to announce that he intended to end the ‘War on Motorists’ when he was appointed Secretary of State for Transport back in May. And it was a good soundbite that resonated with hard pressed motorists. So much so we applauded his aims in an article, which lead to the Guardian calling Cars UK ‘The Petrolhead’s’ favourite website’.

Mon, 27 May 2013

Hyundai has been busy plotting its return to WRC Rallying for 2014, but so far it’s all been about behind the scenes work on building an i20 capable of taking on the rally world and gathering a team that can make it a success. But with the first official outing for the i20 due in January 2014 in Monte Carlo, Hyundai has finally taken their i20 WRC out in the world to give it some proper testing outside the workshop, Hyundai have been playing on a private testing ground to check out the i20′s systems, followed by a comprehensive testing session to work on different setups and gather data, with a major focus on the i20′s 1.6 litre turbo which, until now, hadn’t been run in the car outside Hyundai’s R&D. Hyundai say all went well over the 55okm of testing across three days, a prelude to a full programme of testing in the coming months as Hyundai get closer to their official debut.

Thu, 08 Dec 2011

Ferrari is launching a special pack of paint and trim options on the 599, called the 599 GTB 60F1. It's designed to mark six decades of winning in Formula 1 (not something the scuderia has done much of in 2011). Froilan Gonzalez won Ferrari's first F1 race in the 375 F1 car back in July 1951; 60 years later, Fernando Alonso won Ferrari's first race of the current season in the 150° Italia.
