A heavy key chain may deactivate the airbags in your Chevy Cobalt or Pontiac G5

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

GM is recalling 788,000 Cobalt and Pontiac G5 sedans for a potentially deadly problem with the ignition system. When the vehicles' keys are connected to heavy key chains (or, say, key rings laden with a dozen extra keys), a sufficiently extreme jolt or impact could shift the ignition out of the "run" position and into the "off" position. Cuts electrical power to the vehicles' systems, in turn deactivating the airbags.

Ford B-Max (2012) goes into the great wide open

Thu, 08 Mar 2012

Ford hopes a less-is-more approach will lure punters to its new B-max MPV, unique in the supermini segment for having a big hole in the central cockpit instead of a structural pillar. The result is a flexible people mover that's a doddle to load with kids or cargo, Ford claims, thanks to its pillarless opening and sliding rear door. The novel doors landed the £12,500 people mover in the same must-see company as Bentley's grotesque SUV concept and Ferrari's beautiful F12.

Ferrari Superamerica 45: One-off 599 created for wealthy American customer

Thu, 19 May 2011

Ferrari has revealed a one-off version of the 599 commissioned by New York-based art collector and property developer Peter Kalikow. Called the Superamerica 45, the new open-top car was created to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Kalikow's first Ferrari purchase, a secondhand 400 Superamerica convertible. It will go on public display for the first time at this weekend's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa D'Este on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.
