G-FORCE Racing 3123XXLBK Helmet, GF3, Full Face, CoolTec Liner, Snell SA2015, Gloss Black, 2X-Large, Each.

The G-FORCE GF3 helmets provide a new benchmark in quality, functionality and style. From the outside in you will notice the difference. The outer contact shell is made from a low density, Z38 lightweight composite blend. The shell is coated with high quality paint and finished with a protective clear coat outer layer. The rear of the helmet is accented with double ridge lines that add both style and strength to the GF3's shell. Reinforced mounting points for helmet restraint systems are built into the shell during production for added durability. The G-FLOW Ventilation System siphons air into the chin bar ports, around the heated interior and siphons out the top and rear vents to aid in cooling. An optically correct, .125" thick, ProFit Shield encloses the extra wide eye port opening and secures to the rubberized, eye port gasket to keep dust and dirt out. The ProFit shield is held in place by two aircraft aluminum, wide-head bolts for easy change-out and removal. The thumb indention makes lifting the shield, even with gloves, simple and clean. The pivot kit contains 5 shield ratchet positions so that the driver can adjust to their liking. On the inside, G-FORCE Racing Gear has produced the most user friendly, comfortable helmet on the market. The heart of GF3 helmet is the G-78 impact liner. The G-78 impact liner is covered by a soft knit, hypoallergenic, padded CoolTec, flame retardant liner for comfort and fit. A SpecFit Channel has been added to secure placement in the use of seeing or sunglasses. The chin strap in the GF3 helmets is bolted to the shell with stainless hex-head bolts and is made from durable, flame retardant para-aramid webbing.

Fuel-tank probe rekindles old issue

Mon, 06 Sep 2010

The placement of fuel tanks on passenger vehicles has changed over the past three decades, and for good reason. Automakers gradually have repositioned the tank to an area in front of the rear axle, generally below the rear passenger seat. Statistically speaking, the tank in that location is less vulnerable in a high-speed, rear-end crash than in the previous location--between the rear bumper and axle.

Renault is reviving the Gordini name for high-performance models

Tue, 10 Nov 2009

They don't sell Renaults in the United States anymore, but it's worth noting that the French automaker is reviving the Gordini name for high-performance versions of the Twingo and the Clio. The name pays homage to Amedee Gordini, a mechanical whiz known as "the sorcerer" for taking production-car engines and making them competitive on the great racetracks of Europe. The Gordini versions of the Twingo and the Clio will wear the trademark light blue paint with a pair of white stripes running from nose to tail and centered over the driver.

BMW i3 revealed: The BMW Megacity lives

Fri, 29 Jul 2011

BMW i3 Revealed - on sale in 2013 The BMW i8 – also revealed today –  may be BMW’s answer to a supercar with a conscience for the 21st century, but the other end of the scale is the BMW solution to city mobility – the BMW i3. Known as the Megacity Vehicle – at least until BMW gave us all the detail of the i3 and i8 a few months ago – the BMW i3 is an upright box with a choice of pure electric or range-extender powertrains and is – in size – somewhere between the MINI and the current 1-Series. Just like the i8, the BMW i3 has a predominantly aluminium chassis and a body made of CFRP so it’s reasonably light for an EV (1270kg) and should be nimble thanks to its low centre of gravity which, just like the i8, is due to its batteries and the other heavy stuff sitting low down.
