Toyota to replace the gas pedals on 3.8 million recalled vehicles

Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it will replace the accelerator pedals on 3.8 million vehicles involved in the company's largest recall ever. The models involved are: -- 2007 to 2010 model year Camry -- 2005 to 2010 Avalon -- 2004 to 2009 Prius -- 2005 to 2010 Tacoma -- 2007 to 2010 Tundra -- 2007 to 2010 Lexus ES 350 -- 2006 to 2010 Lexus IS 250 -- 2006 to 2010 Lexus IS 350.The company said it will reconfigure the shape of accelerator pedals to cut down on the risk that they may be jammed in the floor mat.

Chevrolet Volt production halted – again

General Motors has revealed that they are to halt production of the Chevrolet Volt for four weeks as sales stay low. Back in March, we revealed that GM were to stop production of the Chevrolet Volt range extender EV as actual sales fell well behind projected sales. At that time – with a production target of 45,000 Chevy Volts in 2012 – GM had managed to flog just 1.626 Volts in the first two months of 2012 so they decided to halt production for a moth as they had 6,300 Volts stockpiled.

The Jaguar Jaguar XJ_e plug-in hybrid research car with a 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine and 69kW electric motor on show at Goodwood. Now we get the public debut of the Jaguar XJ_e plug-in hybrid at the Goodwood Festival of Speed today featuring the 2.0 litre Ecoboost petrol engine from the Evoque and a 69kW (93bhp) electric motor.
