One Lap of the Web: Let's visit Amelia Island in a short bus camper
Tue, 04 Mar 2014-- Ken Kesey and friends spent most of the countercultural 1960s driving across the country in a 1939 International Harvester school bus painted in psychedelic colors. Portland, Maine architect Will Winkelman might do less drugs (we don't know), but the 1959 Chevrolet Viking short bus he designed might fit Kesey and his Merry Pranksters, especially if you stacked them head-to-toe. For his client, Winkelman designed a Moroccan theme of colorful patterns and textures across the curtains and twin beds, beaded light fixtures and wood paneling everywhere, approaching the project as one might approach boat-building or a particularly run-down Detroit "fixer-upper." The result has plumbing, power, an olive-drab paint scheme that blends into the New England woods, and the overall sense of a guest bedroom that you can escape in whenever you tire of your host's company.
VW Amarok gets an update & BlueMotion Technology
Tue, 06 Nov 2012Volkswagen has updated the ‘Bob the Builder’ VW Amarok for 2013 with new options, more power and BlueMotion Technology. The market for the pick-up that also doubles as a family car for the weekends is strong, and Volkswagen’s offering – the VW Amarok – is one of the best-built on the market. And now it’s not only well-built, but more powerful and more frugal too.
Ferrari 250 GTO – the ‘Budget’ version
Fri, 06 Aug 2010The 250 GTO Evocazione - a replica Ferrari 250 GTO The last time we had a Ferrari 250 GTO in the news was when we broke the story that Chris Evans had acquired a Ferrari 250 GTO for an undiclosed price (thought to be £12 million +). And, much though it pains us to suggest it, the Ferrari 250 GTO Chris bought was not actually the most desirable of 250 GTOs. For that you’d be looking much closer to £20 million.
