GARMIN echoMAP™ 74dv Chartplotter/Sonar Combo

The Garmin echoMAP™ series of chartplotter/sonar pushbutton combos have built-in Garmin HD-ID™ traditional sonar plus DownVü:, which provides exceptionally clear scanning sonar images. This series has the most accurate GPS for its class, and echoMAP™ 74dv comes with BlueChart® g2 US coastal cartography. echoMAP™ 74dv includes cables that plug directly into the mount, allowing you to quickly install and remove your device from power and mount; these features provide you with great value at an affordable price.

Sonar Recording coordinates the timing of the sonar return with your boat’s position and saves digital information for playback on a computer using Garmin’s free HomePort™ planning software. Sonar history rewind allows you to look back in your sonar history while on the water to ensure you don’t miss a thing. Plus, you can utilize the optional User Data Sharing Cable to share waypoints and routes between multiple devices.

DownVü scanning sonar is built into echoMAP™ dv combos. DownVü gives you clear, nearly photographic sonar view of what’s below your boat. It uses an all-in-one HD-ID™ and DownVü transducer allowing you to have both traditional and DownVü images on your screen.

Traditional Garmin HD-ID sonar and DownVü scanning sonar are combined into one transducer. Also provides HD-ID support for Minn Kota® and MotorGuide® trolling motors with integrated transducers.

VW at Geneva Motor Show: 2010 VW Sharan

Tue, 02 Mar 2010

Volkaswagen has revealed the 2010 VW Sharan at the Geneva Motor Show Last week we reported on VW’s little German tease of the 2010 Sharan on the VW web site in Germany, coyly showing just a partial front end and one wheel. But a week on there’s no such reticence with a full reveal of VW’s big people carrier at Geneva. The last generation of the Sharan shared a platform with Ford’s Galaxy, but the 2010 Volkswagen Sharan is a purely VW venture -based as it is on VW’s flexible MQB platform – and comes complete with the standard fashion accessory for a people carrier of sliding rear doors, and a more flexible seven-seat layout.

Brazilian students develop soapbox racers for Volkswagen

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Brazilian design students have competed for year-long internships at Volkswagen's Brazilian design studio by designing – and racing – soapbox cars. Established 15 years ago by Volkswagen South America design director Luiz Veiga, the Volkswagen Design Talent Contest refreshed its format for 2013 by challenging students to develop a prototype for a gravity-powered soapbox racer instead of asking for sketch and render-based proposals. According to Veiga, Volkswagen was looking for someone "capable of working away from the desk and able to create design solutions, assess and build them".
