London world’s most expensive place to park
Tue, 17 Dec 2013REX The average cost to park a car for a day in London is a whopping £42 – making London the most expensive city for car parking in the entire world. This is according to new research by ParkatmyHouse.com, which ranks the UK capital number one, well ahead of the likes of New York, Sydney and Tokyo. On Bing: see pictures of car parking in LondonThe world’s strangest car parks The next most expensive city to park in is Tokyo – a place so notorious for its lack of available parking space the Japanese have an entire class of city cars dedicated to making it easier.
Peugeot 2008 Crossover: UK price from £12,995
Thu, 02 May 2013That meant the Urban Crossover Concept from Geneva in 2012 turning in to the new Peugeot 2008 at the start of 2013 – before heading to Geneva 2013 for its public debut – and with that other French car maker, Renault, going a similar route with the Clio-based Captur, it’s clear the French see the future of compact cars moving away from hatchbacks to something more rugged. But unlike the Captur – which was a bit of a disappointing looking Clio on stilts – the Peugeot 2008 does look a more convincing offering, even if it’s a more generic-looking compact SUV than the Nissan Juke and would, for our money, be the pick over the Captur. Peugeot are targeting 8,000 sales a year in the UK for the 2008, and with prices starting at £12,995 and heading up to around £19,000 it seems, if anything, a quite modest target, especially as Peugeot reckons 65 per cent of 2008 customers will be new to the brand.
Jay Leno tests the Venom GT
Thu, 05 Jan 2012Five years ago, Hennessey Performance was locked in a high-horsepower battle with supercars from Germany, Italy and the United States. The car Hennessey brought was the Venom 1000 Twin Turbo Viper. After decimating the competition in 0-to-200-mph runs, John Hennessey thought if his company could just stuff the engine into a smaller car, it could go even faster.
