Sharpen your radar picture with high definition performance. The GMR 18 HD radar offers a whole new level of radar scanning capability.

Get Powerful Performance

The GMR 18 HD features high-powered Digital Signal Processing, providing sharper radar imagery and improved target separation.

This 18" (45.7 cm), 4-kilowatt high definition radar has a 36 nm range, bringing radar images into even clearer focus. Combine that with the antenna’s 5.0 degree beamwidth, and you’re looking at the best weather penetration and target definition in its class.

To help you avoid traffic on the water, the GMR 18 HD provides MARPA target tracking when combined with a multi-function display and an optional heading sensor. MARPA tracking allows you to track the bearing, course, speed and predicted closest approach of up to 10 targets. In addition, like all Garmin radars, the GMR 18 HD has self-contained signal processing, which provides you with a more precise, easy to read signature.

Connect to the Garmin Marine Network

The GMR 18 HD transmits data over the Garmin Marine Network, a 100 MB plug-and-play proprietary network that gives you the ability to expand your boat’s system as needed. Once connected to the network, you can use any network-compatible Garmin chartplotter as your radar screen. And as an aid to locational awareness, you can overlay the GMR 18 HD radar image on the chartplotter's map page. You also can split the on-screen display so you can view the map and the standard radar page simultaneously.

Jaguar Lightweight E-Type makes a comeback after 50 years – 6 new Lightweights to be built

Wed, 14 May 2014

6 new Jaguar Lightweight E-Types on the way Even in 1963, car makers made ‘special editions’ of production cars, and one such car was the Jaguar Lightweight E-Type, a lightweight version of the then new production E-Type designed to take Jaguar racing. This was in the days before carbon fibre panels, so Jaguar built many of the body panels from aluminium and fitted an aluminium block version of the 3.8 litre engine from the production E-Type with 300bhp (55bhp more than the road car), fuel injection and a ZF 5-speed gearbox. The Lightweight E-Type wasn’t a spectacular success on the track, and Jaguar ended up building just 12 of the original planned run of 18.

Chevy Cruze Diesel: As torquey as a classic Camaro?

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

From the Department Of Silly Press Releases comes this missive from deep within the bowels of the Renaissance Center, Junior Wool-Pulling Division, located next to the Quizno's. "Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel Delivers Classic Muscle Car Torque," it reads, and while torque is the Great Equalizer of the continued championing of the diesel engine, comparing it to the sturm und drang of launching a 1972 Camaro Z28 from the parking lot of the Hendersonville, Tenn., Shoney's is tantamount to the sort of blasphemy that gets people excommunicated. For the record, the Chevrolet Cruze Diesel's 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine produces 264 lb-ft of torque, more than the Volkswagen Jetta TDI's at 236 lb-ft.
