The GPSMAP 188/188C Sounder install easily in open cockpit and overhead boxes, and feature a quick map redraw using a high-speed RISC processor. These units combine chartplotter and sounder capabilities in one unit, with split-screen capability so you can view your position and sounder information at the same time. For the GPSMAP 188 Sounder, detailed marine cartography is presented on a high-resolution (240 x 360 pixels), 10-level grayscale, liquid crystal display. For the GPSMAP 188C Sounder, the display is a high-resolution (234 x 320 pixels), 16-color TFT display.

Featuring a built-in worldwide basemap, the GPSMAP 188/188C Sounder is fully compatible with Garmin's new BlueChart® marine cartography and many MapSource® CD-ROM products, including Fishing Hot Spots. These units are designed to provide precise GPS positioning using correction data obtained from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). They also provide position accuracy to less than three meters when receiving WAAS corrections. The GPSMAP 188/188C Sounder also accept RTCM-104 differential corrections.

UK 2011 car sales analysis: winners and losers

The UK car market fell 4.4% in 2011 to its worst year for at least a decade. Brits bought 1,941,253 vehicles last year as private motorists put off that new car purchase and stuck with their existing wheels or went secondhand. Retail sales took the brunt of the fall, with a 14% collapse on 2010's figures.

Mercedes S Class production cut as sales fall

Mercedes is cutting production of the range topping S Class to a one shift operation as sales fall ahead of the new 2013 S Class. But there are now plenty of signs that even premium car makers are not immune from the economic climate – particularly in Europe – as sales start to slide. We recently commented that Jaguar sales are not as strong as they were and now it seems Mercedes is starting to feel the punch as sales of the range-topping S Class falter.
