Details: The GPSMAP 188/188C Sounder install easily in open cockpit and overhead boxes, and feature a quick map redraw using a high-speed RISC processor. These units combine chartplotter and sounder capabilities in one unit, with split-screen capability so you can view your position and sounder information at the same time. For the GPSMAP 188 Sounder, detailed marine cartography is presented on a high-resolution (240 x 360 pixels), 10-level grayscale, liquid crystal display. For the GPSMAP 188C Sounder, the display is a high-resolution (234 x 320 pixels), 16-color TFT display. Featuring a built-in worldwide basemap, the GPSMAP 188/188C Sounder is fully compatible with Garmin's new BlueChart® marine cartography and many MapSource® CD-ROM products, including Fishing Hot Spots. These units are designed to provide precise GPS positioning using correction data obtained from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). They also provide position accuracy to less than three meters when receiving WAAS corrections. The GPSMAP 188/188C Sounder also accept RTCM-104 differential corrections. |

The USP of the Goodwood MMS is the opportunity – for a lucky few – to take an interesting bit of kit up the Goodwood hillclimb. This year Claire had drawn the tickets for the day; tickets Volvo had kindly sent us (many thanks, guys) after they asked us to drive the hillclimb in a Polestar car.
Michelin Recognizes CCS Student Talent
Wed, 03 Feb 2010Five senior students from the Transportation Design Department of the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit have won prestigious design awards at the 21st Annual Michelin-CCS Design Competition. The creative brief for the competition theme "Electrifying - Beautiful, Innovative and Radiant" required the students to submit electric vehicle design solutions they could realistically envision driving in the year 2020, as well as designs which addressed a specific transportation problem or opportunity. Each student also submitted a separate tire/wheel assembly based on Michelin's Active Wheel technology.
General Motors to kill Daewoo name in South Korea, switch to Chevrolet
Thu, 20 Jan 2011General Motors Co., trying to position Chevrolet as a key global brand, is killing the long-used GM Daewoo name in South Korea and putting the Chevy bowtie on its cars there. The name GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co., in use since GM took over the struggling South Korean automaker in 2002, will be phased out by the end of March. The new name will be GM Korea Co., the company said in a statement.
