Mon, 27 Feb 2012Jaguar, BMW and Mercedes make the Superbrands Top 10 Jaguar, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have all made it in to the UK Superbrands top ten list for 2012, the only car makers in the top 20. They say perception of a brand is more important for sales than substance; and there’s some truth to that. So Jaguar, BMW and Mercedes-Benz should be suitably chuffed to be the only car brands to make it in to the Superbrands Top Ten list of consumer brands for 2012.
Toyota GT86 TRD Griffon heading for Goodwood FoS
Fri, 14 Jun 2013The Toyota GT86 TRD Griffon (pictured) will be at the Goodwood FoS We’ve had a road-going version of the Toyota GT86 fettled by TRD and now we’re getting a track-focused version too. Just like the Toyota GT86 TRD, the Griffon version gets a makeover from Toyota Racing Division, and just like the road-going version – which costs £31,495 – the Griffon track version has to make do with the same 197bhp flat four engine the stock road car gets. But the changes to the GT86 Griffon are more extreme than the road-going version, with a focus on shedding weight and sharpening responses.
Australia's Holden to cease production after 2017, GM says
Wed, 11 Dec 2013General Motors, in the latest blow to Australia's auto industry, will end vehicle and engine manufacturing and scale back engineering operations in the country by the end of 2017. The company's Holden unit, a mainstay in Australia for decades, cited the high cost of manufacturing in one of the world's smallest but most competitive markets and one that has also been upended by a steady rise in imports, mostly from southeast Asia. There has been widespread speculation of the move in recent days and earlier Tuesday, in Australia, GM officials said no decision had been made.
