Citroen fits new 3.0 V6 HDI to C5 and C6

Mon, 15 Jun 2009

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 15 June 2009 09:50 Citroen has announced its most powerful engine in a production car – the new, expanded 3.0-litre HDI turbodiesel. It's the PSA-Jaguar Land Rover developed engine, previously available as a 2.7.The new 3.0 HDI will be fitted to the C5 and C6 in late summer 2009, replacing the 2.7. It produces 237bhp, up from 205bhp in the 2.7, yet fuel economy and CO2 both improve by around 15%.What's new on Citroen's 3.0-litre V6 HDI?The V6 gets a third generation common-rail injection system, a diesel particulate filter system and an alternator that recovers energy during braking. Both C5 and C6 3.0 HDI V6 models average 38mpg and emit 195g/km of CO2.The V6 turbodiesel was jointly developed by Ford (when it owned Jaguar Land Rover) and PSA Peugeot Citroen and is built in the Blue Oval's Dagenham, UK, diesel facility.

Mini Vision concept: what does it say about the brand's future?

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

The sight of Mini design head Anders Warming presenting a holographic, 3D projection of the Mini Vision concept as if appearing in his own cartoon was certainly a new one on us, but it captured the quirky, slightly left-field image the subsidiary of BMW Group has cultivated since its relaunch 13 years ago. As the 'Vision' tag suggests, this is billed as a marker of intent for the brand's future design direction rather than a pre-production teaser of the new Mini hatchback (Cooper in most markets) we'll see later this year. However if the third-generation 'new' Mini doesn't look remarkably similar we'd be amazed, such is the level of productionized detailing on this purely digital model.

The news means that the Freelander is not only growing into a baby Discovery by name, but also adopting big brother’s seven-seater layout. This handful of official press photos reveals the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport in an unusual quasi-disguise.
