The Garmin VHF 100 marine receiver features intuitive design and provides radio communication to enhance convenience and safety to mariners worldwide.

Communicate with Confidence

With up to 25 watts of transmit power at your fingertips, you’ll be able to stay in touch anywhere on the water. So no matter where you are or where you’re heading, you’ll always have a line of communication open to make sure every voyage is a safer voyage.

Safety First

The Garmin VHF 100 provides full Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) capability via NMEA 0183 interface. Should trouble arise, DSC provides distress calls with the push of a button. And if your boat is already interfaced with a compatible GPS chartplotter, you’ll get mayday signaling and a digital broadcast of your boat’s position. The VHF 100 also features NOAA weather alerts and Position Tracking, which allows a mariner to locate and keep tabs on up to three other boats in the area.

At-A-Glance Information

The VHF 100 has a simple user interface that’s easy to read while on the go so you’ll always have the right information at the right time. In addition to dedicated buttons and knobs for ease of use, the VHF 100 features three soft keys linked to onscreen menus that allow boaters to see and select the information they want. The VHF 100 also offers premium sound quality so every message is loud and clear. And to make sure the data stands out, the information is available on a 3.2-inch display – the largest screen available in its class.

Detailed Design

The VHF 100 is built to brave the elements. And to simplify the installation process, it can also be mounted in a variety of configurations. With removable front caps, the VHF 100 can be easily added in cockpit consoles or cabin bulkheads. It’s the only front flush-mounting capable marine radio available on the market today, which makes the VHF 100 as flexible as it is functional. It’s made to last with rugged design that’s also submersible (IPX7 standards), so you’ll get a full-featured marine receiver that’s ready to go in a compact fixed-mount design.

Coventry University design graduates develop iconic youth car

Mon, 14 May 2007

Three graduates from the Coventry University MA Automotive Design course have created an iconic vehicle for the year 2020. Kazunori Inomota, Edward Stubbs and Mujammil Khan-Muztar designed the Rebel concept, a project that began in March this year, to incorporate aspects of Japanese 'Harajuku' gangs - where teenagers create their own fashion to deliberately try to stand out from their peers - and Toyota's youth-oriented Scion brand. Drawing styling cues from the Scion xB and the Ford SYNus concept unveiled at the 2005 NAIAS in Detroit, the Rebel concept is about social interaction, functionality, and the relationship buyers have with personalized products.

Paris Motor Show 2012 – Trends and Overview

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

The 2012 Paris Mondial de l'Automobile will not be remembered as a classic. When the Big Book of the Paris Motor Show is published, 2012 may be consigned to no more than a side note as the show that marked what a dire situation the European car industry was once in. The most worrying aspect of the Paris show was the general lack of progression.
