Garrett TO4E 60-Trim/STG III Hybrid Turbo

Have a smaller powerplant that needs some big boost?   Here is a turbocharger built with a combination of an ultra-efficient 58 mm compressor section and a fast spooling T3 exhaust housing to deliver up some 49 lbs per min from the exhaust energy of a modest displacement engine.  Looking specifically at the turbine section we see that with a .63 A/R exhaust housing, boost response and spool-up is strong.  From the vast experience in building capable performance turbochargers for various performance and competition engines, this hybrid T3/T04E turns smaller engines into 500+ HP capable giants.   Packed with expert-selected components for aggressive acceleration of the rotor group, and ported for impressively efficient performance as well, the 60-trim/ STG III turbocharger readily spools up fast to peak boost with an immediacy few other hybrids can match.

This is one feature packed journal-bearing turbocharger custom manufactured to spool-up efficiently from modest exhaust gas volumes.   The CHRA has been blueprinted to reduce internal friction to quickly reach full boost like a full-on ball bearing design.  Tweaks like full-circumference oil supply bearings, polished turbine shaft bearing surfaces, and improved thrust plate oiling conspire to lower friction even with pressurized air delivery loads imposed upon the turbine shaft support bearings.  The compressor housing has a compact 2.75" inlet and .70 A/R.  This compressor housing has been perfectly matched to the T04E 60-trim compressor wheel which boasts excellent flow efficiency owed to its aerodynamic blade shaping.  The stg III turbine wheel is an optimized trim design that combines both low inertia and aggressive exhaust flow capacity for impressive compressor wheel acceleration.   The .63 A/R of the exhaust housing assures healthy gas stream volume capacity and robust acceleration for keen turbine speed and transitional response. An added bonus is the inclusion of a 3" outlet with a v-band fitment for easy down-pipe attachment and removal.  This trim balances turbine acceleration with volume capacity for a perfect blend of quick spooling attributes with high-power airflow rates.   Both the lower friction associated with the 60-Trim/ STG III CHRA's modifications and its turbine acceleration characteristics conspire to produce nearly immediate spool-up even with diminutive exhaust gas energy levels of smaller displacement powerplants.

To all of these features we add a full complement of porting applied to each housing for the ultimate in performance.   On the compressor side, this further reduces compressor wheel damaging surge and boosts airflow as well.  The exhaust housing portwork increases gas velocity at the turbine wheel, limits fatigue induced cracking, and of course, increases flow.  The compressor housing gets polished up to a bright shine after we make the aluminum casting smooth all over.  All of the features of this turbocharger combine to yield a unit that has strong boost response and power delivery.  This hybrid is a solid performance choice from the Exclusive Turbosystems lab.

If your build calls for a T3/T4 hybrid turbocharger that spools up fast but delivers enough boosted airflow to support an honest 500 HP, here is an ideal solution.   From the vast experience of the Exclusive Turbosystems lab we start with the proven combination of Garrett T3 and T4 components then augment it to become even leaner and meaner. The outcome is power, at astounding levels, even from your smaller displacement engine.

Arizona auctions: Plenty of bidders are willing to buy

Sat, 22 Jan 2011

Friday's auction results from the four major auction houses continue on a strong streak, with sales reports topping even optimistic pre-event estimates. RM Auctions completed its second and final day of sales in Phoenix, posting results totaling an estimated $30.6 million, a record-high amount for this event. The Canadian-based company also garnered the most talked about sale of the day, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL steel-bodied "Gullwing" that sold for $1.375 million.

BMW axes B-class rival

Mon, 07 Aug 2006

By Georg Kacher Motor Industry 07 August 2006 09:26 BMW has put on ice plans for a mini-MPV based on the 3-series, to rival the Mercedes B-class. Instead, it will focus on a bigger, Mercedes R-class challenger, due in 2009. 'Originally, we looked at two different space-functional concepts: one was based on the 3-series, the other one on the 5-series,' said a source.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake: An inside look at the Sportbrake’s design +video

Mon, 12 Mar 2012

Jaguar XF Sportbrake - an inside look at the design Jaguar design boss Ian Callum and Studio Director Wayne Burgess walk us through the new XF Sportbrake and its design. We’ve had endless stuff on the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake over the last few months – and even more since Jaguar officially revealed the XF Sportbrake ahead of its Geneva debut – so we thought we’d had a bit of ‘Sportbrake Overload’ going on, however good we think the new XF is. So when we got this video of Jaguar design boss Ian Callum and Studio Director Wayne Burgess doing a talking-heads walkthrough on the Sportbrake we thought we might pass.
