Mitsubishi lose the ‘O’

The Mitsubishi Evo X - Last of the breed What ‘O’? Yes, it’s Sunday morning and none of our brains are exactly on fire. But we still seem to be thinking more clearly than Mitsubishi, who have revealed they are to drop the Evo and concentrate on electric cars and hybrids.

This is the new, fourth-generation Renault Clio and the first production car to feature the brand's new design language under Laurens van den Acker. Its grille and lamp graphics are a clear relation to the Dezir concept first shown in Paris 2010, while the rear feature lines and lamps have shades of the Captur concept. The new Clio will only be available in five-door format although its rear door handles are hidden in its C-pillars.

Toyota's Akio Toyoda flies solo at media event, in change of style

It was as much a change for Akio Toyoda as it was for Toyota Motor Corp. In unveiling the company's new mid-term business plan this week, the media-shy president flew solo at a news conference without the usual safety net of being flanked by his top brass. The move was a departure for Toyoda, who -- in his two years as president -- has tended to divert technical or detailed questions to a panel of executives sharing stage with him.
