Jaguar F-Type with Black Pack is Firesand Orange: LA Auto Show

The Jaguar F-Type has had its North American debut at the Los Angles Auto Show complete with Black Pack and Design Pack and Firesand paintwork. But rather than roll out the standard models we’ve seen so far – the V6, V6 S and V8 S – Jaguar decided it ought to gild the lily a bit by rolling out an F-Type with a chunk of options bolted in so the Americans could see just how they could customise their own F-Type. VW halts merger talk with Porsche

Volkswagen on Sunday slammed the brakes on merger talks with Porsche, just before the first meeting to discuss ways to bring all of the automakers' brands together under one entity. VW said that it made the move because it believes that Porsche doesn't have a solid plan for the merger. VW and Porsche announced the plan to hold merger talks on May 6.

Italian coachbuilder Bertone might be in deep financial trouble – it didn’t have a stand at the Geneva show – but its styling division, Stile Bertone, revealed an incredible one-off car on the night of the first press day instead at Auto Design Night, a special event for car designers held at city centre night club La SIP. The stunningly streamlined BAT 11 doesn’t take its odd name from the bat-like rear wings, but because BAT stands for ‘Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica’ in Italian, the ‘11’ indicating that it is the fourth in a series of one-off Bertone designs for Alfa Romeo following on from the BAT 5, 7 and 9 from the mid-1950s.
