Kia Sportage and Soul recall – affects 7000 UK cars

5,787 UK Kia Sportage models (pictured) are being recalled. Recalls are a fact of life for car makers, but at least the industry now tries to respond to problems as they arise, and before they cause damage to people of vehicles. This latest recall comes from Kia in the UK, which is recalling a total of 5,785 Sportage models and 1.432 Soul models to address a problem that ha been identified with the seat belt pre-tensioner mechanism.

Volkswagen has confirmed its new 2014 Polo supermini will go on sale in the UK on 23 April 2014, with prices starting from £11,100 for the entry-level 60hp 1.0-litre S variant. Prices rise to £19,715 for the range-topping five-door Polo Blue GT model fitted with VW’s 150hp 1.4-litre TSI petrol turbo engine with cylinder deactivation technology. It is mated to a six-speed manual as standard, or the firm’s seven-speed DSG gearbox as an option.

The election is less than two months away, so it must be time to bash the Chevy Volt. I’m referring to a Washington Post piece titled “GM’s vaunted Volt is on the road to nowhere fast.” I cite the Post piece only because it’s the latest; there have been other similar pieces in other quote-unquote mainstream media outlets.
